Yes, Dacast fully supports multi-bitrate streaming on live videos and video-on-demand content.
The Dacast player detects automatically the different bitrates of your live stream and allows the viewer to choose between them.
This must be set up in your encoder directly.
Also, in order to support multi-bitrates streaming, you need an internet connection that has an upload speed that is fast enough to support the multi-bitrate function.
For example, 200 kbps + 600 kbps would be the same as broadcasting at 800kbps. You would likely need an upload speed of over 1MB a second.
Required Encoder Settings
Please remember that there are a few live encoder settings that are required for live streaming with Dacast, regardless of your selected resolution and bitrate:
