Dacast’s online video hosting platform has a video replacement option that allows you to replace the content on an embedded video player without changing the embed code.
This is a useful tool if you have embedded your video on a website and want to change the content without having to change the video’s embed code. This way, you won’t lose views because of a broken video player or faulty embed code.
To replace your video, you must follow these seven steps:
- Log into your Dacast account
- Go to the “Videos” tab on the left
- Click on the “Edit” button next to the video you want to replace
- Go to the “Renditions” tab
- Select the “Replace Source File” button located on the right-hand side
- Browse and locate the new video that you want to upload in place of the previous video
- Proceed with the normal upload and encode steps
Once you’ve completed these steps, the previous video will have then been replaced with your new content.
After the video has been uploaded the video content on your website will be replaced automatically. This means the embed code will not change but the video will.
Any page on the internet where the code is embedded the new content will replace the old one.
Please note that if the replacement video was shot in a different size or aspect ratio then it will be encoded to fit the size of the original player selected.
