Yes, viewers can watch Dacast videos, both live streams, and Video on Demand content, from any device that supports HTML5 streaming. This includes iOS devices (Apple products), Android devices, gaming consoles (like the Wii U), and many more. To share your content with mobile viewers you can either send them a Share Link or give them a link to a webpage that you have embedded a piece of content on. The “Share Link” and embed codes can be found in your contents “General” tab. Please check out our embedding tutorial where we walk you through how to embed and share your content. You can also monetize your content by setting up a paywall to collect money from viewers before giving them access. Check out our monetization tutorial to learn how to set up the paywall and customize it with the Dacast “Theme” settings.
Mobile Streaming: Building an App
As we mentioned, mobile live streaming is becoming huge. Dacast uses an HTML5 video player that is universal among both Android and iOS devices. This means that no matter where you embed the video player, it can be accessed from pretty much any device. With the help of mobile SDKs from Dacast, you can create and customize your mobile app relatively easily.
Broadcasting from Your Phone
You can also broadcast from your smartphone with the help of third-party services, like Larix Broadcaster. This capability is helpful for broadcasters who want to live stream on the go, especially if you’re covering a special event or location that doesn’t have a broadcasting studio.
