Challenge
In order for CDFL to broadcast the football games in real-time throughout the globe and to have it done with Pay Per View, they would need a medium that will help them achieve these. Before using Dacast, they would pre-record the games and make them available as a Video on demand.
Solution
After realizing that they needed to be more proactive and broadcast the events live, CDFL chose Dacast as the solution to their problems.
Dacast offered seamless streaming through their Content Delivery Network where the live video is broadcasted from a global server structure. This also allowed them to reach a geographically diverse audience.
With Dacast’s Pay As You Go streaming plan, it provided them the flexibility to purchase a particular chunk of bandwidth that they will be using with the no-contract system.
The white-label feature allowed CDFL to fully brand the player and embed it onto their website, which gives them strong credibility.
Dacast gave us strong credibility and left us with a good reputation
Results
CDFL relied on Dacast’s personalized support that was offered at their plan level. Their big event was closely monitored and supported by their account manager.
With CDFL’s reputation on the line from this being their first major live-streaming event, they turned to Dacast for help. Placing trust in them, the support team helped them to make sure that it was a success.
In total, they broadcasted four football games during their December 2013 cycle, which had a following in over 10 different countries. They had over 5,000 hits per channel that resulted in high revenues from the PPV.
According to George St. Lawrence, since the event turned out to be more than what they were expecting, they will continue using Dacast for their streaming needs. They are set to stream weekly football events starting July of 2014 and another big event for their December 2014 cycle: “… first time in five years that we are able to monetize plus reach a wider audience.”
About CFDL
With a company motto: “Everyone deserves a second chance to make a first impression”, Collegiate Development Football League was established in 2008 to provide an opportunity for young football players, aged 18-24, to get scouted/ recruited out of high school to play for a collegiate level.
They also help promote senior college students into the professional and international ranks. These are all done by setting up different football games. They are by far the largest organization that helps aspiring football players to become a step closer towards their dreams.
