Recommended Tips for Your Live Stream Event

  1. Hardwire your internet connection at the event venue whenever possible (because the strength of WiFi connection can be unstable)
  2. Go early to test the audio and video of your stream.  You can use your “Share Link” to test the stream, this can be found in the “Sharing” section of your live channel’s “General” tab.

– When ready to stream live, click the start streaming button in your encoder.

Bonus tip:  If there is IT support at the venue, try to get their contact info for any IT or internet-related issues on-site you can ask at the venue.

Required encoder settings***

Please make sure your Encoder Settings have the following:

Audio Bitrate: 128

Sample Rate: 48 kHz

Keyframe Interval: 3 seconds (3 times the frame rate if stated in frames)

Rate Control: CBR

Frames Per Second (FPS): 30 (recommended for all) or 60 (for really high-speed events like racing).

Video Bitrate: Do a speed test first (testmy.net/) at the place where you will be live streaming.

Profile: Do NOT use ‘Baseline’.

Audio Codec: AAC

***Please ensure you test your encoder before your event.  Encoder settings may vary according to encoder manufacturer.  If you have any questions about your encoder settings, you can reach out to our support team and send screenshots of your encoder settings.

Troubleshooting

– If you notice buffering (spinning circle) or if viewers let you know about buffering and they are watching from different locations, lower the bitrate.

– If you notice high CPU usage, on your encoder, this means you are running programs on your computer and need to close out of them.

– If you have any questions about setting up your live stream, contact our support team: /support

Our support team is available 24/7 via chat and e-mail at support@dacast.com.  Please let us know when your live stream will be and your live stream channel.

Pre-event

– Please leave a good amount of time by arriving a few hours earlier before the event to do a test stream.

– Check the sound is correctly set up and working for the stream.  And, if you have questions, contact the Dacast Support Team. When contacting Support, please provide the name of the live stream channel you are streaming from.

Other Settings (If Applicable)

When setting up the settings for the camera, the video mixer, or capture device, make sure it is all progressive not interlaced.  All devices should be set to progressive.   For example, you would have a p after the resolution (example: 720p, instead of 720i).
